We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Personal Injury / Civil Litigation Paralegal to join our litigation team. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting attorneys through all phases of litigation, outstanding organizational skills, and a client-focused approach to legal services.

Position Summary

The Personal Injury / Civil Litigation Paralegal will provide comprehensive support to attorneys handling a variety of personal injury and civil litigation matters. This position requires strong case management abilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced legal environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage personal injury and civil litigation cases from intake through resolution.
  • Communicate regularly with clients, insurance adjusters, expert witnesses, medical providers, and opposing counsel.
  • Draft and prepare legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, and correspondence.
  • Assist attorneys with case strategy, investigation, and trial preparation.
  • Gather, review, organize, and summarize medical records, billing records, and other case-related documentation.
  • Coordinate records requests and monitor receipt of necessary documents.
  • Manage discovery processes, including document production and case file organization.
  • Maintain litigation calendars, track deadlines, and ensure compliance with court requirements.
  • Schedule depositions, mediations, hearings, and client meetings.
  • Conduct factual investigations and legal research as directed.
  • Prepare settlement demand packages and assist with negotiations.
  • Organize exhibit files, witness materials, and trial notebooks.
  • Support attorneys during trials, hearings, and mediations.
  • Maintain accurate electronic and physical case files.

Qualifications

Required

  • Associate's degree, Paralegal Certificate, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a personal injury, civil litigation, or litigation paralegal.
  • Strong understanding of litigation procedures and court filing requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Preferred

  • Experience with Kansas and Missouri state court litigation.
  • Familiarity with electronic filing systems in federal and state courts.
  • Experience using legal case management software.
  • Trial preparation and courtroom support experience.
